Valparaíso Atacama – 2 Weeks

Start exploring Chile’s vibrant wine scene with urban vinotecas and vineyards in the shadow of the Andes.

The Itinerary

As seen on Lonely Planet:

Start exploring Chile’s vibrant wine scene with urban vinotecas and vineyards in the shadow of the Andes.

In Santiago, scroll around the historic center, break for a seafood lunch in the clamoring Mercado Central and tour La Chascona, Pablo Neruda’s home. Go to funky Valparaíso to roam steep hills and ride antique elevators. Admire open-air graffiti, step into Neruda’s La Sebastiana getaway and feast on freshly caught fish. Then hit for a quick beach getaway in Viña del Mar, Maitencillo or surf in relaxed Pichilemu.

Finish in Colchagua Valley for some amazing wine tasting.

Then Turn up the dial with desert heat. Take your camper to the magical Valle del Elqui and Vicuña to visit the capital of Pisco. Then head north to Punta de Choros to watch wales and dolphins in their natural habitat.

Go to the highland village of San Pedro de Atacama. Absorb altiplano ambience visiting the moonlike Valle de la Luna, the steaming and strange El Tatio Geysers for a sci-fi movie like set, and the stark Reserva Nacional Los Flamencos for some pink flamingos pictures. Wind up days of hiking, horseback riding or volcano climbing with mel-low evening bonfires and star-stocks skies.
